My New Year's Resolutions

I find that New Year's resolutions are the perfect opportunity for anyone who has failed to start making the changes that they said they would make "next week". I know I don't need the beginning of a new year to start making changes in my life, but just like everyone else, I find it helpful to begin the year with a plan. Because, let's be honest, I'm a "next week" kinda gal. Nevertheless, I am a believer in goal-setting, so as loose as these may be, here are my New Year's resolutions:

1. More craft shows
I always have so much fun visiting, and participating in local craft shows that I have no idea why I don't do it more often. I get to meet and connect with local artisans, sell my cozy goods to cozy homes, and trade my crafts for other crafts! My goal for this year is at least five shows.
2. Clean it up!
Just like most knitters, I have what is known in the business as a "stash". This is really just a giant pile of yarn tangled in the corner of my room (plus maybe a little extra hidden in bags hanging on every door knob). So obviously that won't do. I need to organize my stash by untangling and winding up all of that string so I can actually use it.
3. FINISH HIM
On a similar note to the cleaning resolution, I really need to finish my UFOs (unfinished projects). I probably have more than a dozen projects on the go; single socks, half knit blankets, mittens without thumbs etc. So before I tackle anything big this year I need to finish at least three of my UFOs.
4. Give it away/ Give it away/ Give it away now
Every year around the holidays I donate some knitwear to charity. But why only do that once a year? I love to knit for others and would like to do more of it. I'll make baby blankets for the summer, and warm knitwear for the winter!
5. #werk
You might have noticed that I'm quite a fan of social media. (For real, I have my instagram page laid out a week in advance) This coming year I want to actually use it to connect with people, you know, instead of sporadically posting pictures on tumblr. I'm going to try to update my instagram daily, my Facebook twice a week, and this blog once a week. If I'm feeling really ambitious this year, I might even get back into vlogging, and update my YouTube every other week! On top of all of that, I also want to reply to comments more and communicate more with you guys (plus maybe some giveaways).

6. Stop, collaborate, and listen
I really enjoy trading my crafts for other crafts, but why should I stop there? I'd like to try and work with more folks on more projects! I know so many wonderful people with so many unique talents that I'd love to work with while I have to opportunity. (That being said, if you want to work with me hmu)
7. Which craft?
The way my program works at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design is that you start with three major classes and work down to your once favourite. So we start with knitting, weaving, and surface design. This year, I'm going to have to pick between knitting and weaving for my one single major. Talk about a major decision! (oof, sorry)

8. Proper Documentation
I've been working on some cool projects this last little while, but I haven't shared any of it with you! So this year I'm going to take the time to properly photograph my projects so I can keep you folks (and my portfolio) up to date.
9. Back in Business
I used to have a rather cute Etsy shop running, and I'd like to start that up again. It always made me feel really successful when I got to send one of my items to a far away place, and with an online shop I can reach a larger amount of people!
10. Knit more shit
With all that other stuff going on, I can't forget what got me here in the first place! I used to keep written documentation of all of my knitting projects in a little journal, and I think it's time to start that up again to see how far I get. Here's to hundreds of projects this year!

Woof, that's a lot! And that's not even counting my personal goals. 2017 is going to be a busy year for me, and I couldn't be more excited for it.
